I was watching a show the other night about Elle Decor’s Dining by Design (they describe this event on their website as a: lavish affair where designers, celebrities, and the who’s who of fashion convene for a night of style, drama, excitement, and spirited collaboration).
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw these stunning leather floor tiles created by Artistic Tile.
They’re magnatized – i.e. no grout, no need for permanent installation! Just snap to any rubber steel or galvanized sheet metal surface.

Check out the cow hide pattern!

no zamboni required

untitled no zamboni required
Imaging ice skating in the middle of the dessert…you think I’m crazy, right? I love this product by Superglide. I first came across this when I attended a BizBash tradeshow in Toronto. It was actually the skaters who were selling their services, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the surface that they were skating on. My mind was running through all the possibilities this product could offer an event. Skating anywhere, at any time of the year…no building, no refrigeration and no zamboni required!

natural aesthetics

C03033G natural aesthetics

I absolutely LOVE these grass votives by designer Michael Aram. In fact, I like virtually anything from this designer. I could see these used in a grouping or as a single table centerpiece. Priced at $54.95 and available in 3 colours, these are a must for aesthetically-minded planners.

art for the table

 art for the table

Introducing Curvware, a line of ergonomically designed utensils that have totally reinvented flatware. Founder, Mark Wilson, describes them as the equivalent of what the lever handle is to the round door knob. Curvware is not only more comfortable in the hand, but aesthetically beautiful. So beautiful, in fact, that it was featured in one of the Smithsonian’s exhibits.
I have a set and have “tried them out” at a number of my dinner parties. They are a guaranteed conversation-starter. I take delight in watching people interact while using the product. Some people just naturally get how to use the utensils and some people need to watch and play for a minute or two.
There are a ton of different ways you can set the product. And, Curvware offers a display stand as one option.
Just imagine creating drama and interactivity at an event through something as simple as a knife and fork.
Check out the Curvware site.
