I love the idea of incorporating this trend into VIP invitations, backdrops, table cloths, vase covers or light shades. It’s just the type of detail that can make an event extraordinary.

I’ve always believed that the only things you can take with you through life are your reputation (what you’ve earned) and the legacy you’ve left behind (what you’ve given). Those who accomplish both in a positive way make some of the best leaders. You see, leadership isn’t about what you say you are. It’s not a title you can assign to yourself. True leaders earn the trust and reverence of others through action.
It’s easier to be a great leader when times are good. But true leadership is earned in the tough times…when your back is up against the wall and when temptations to take shortcuts and stray from your path seem to lurk behind every corner. So, here we are in what some people would call one of the most challenging times in modern history. The events industry is hurting – massive layoffs, drastically cut budgets, cancelled events and a perception by some large corporations and government that what we do is excessive and superfluous.
It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by the doom and gloom movement but this is exactly the environment that separates the leaders from the non-leaders. It takes optimism, tenacity and authenticity to perservere. So, seek opportunity, define your path and give of yourself. Who knows, you may just inspire others to follow your lead.
What do you think?
How would you define leadership today? Post it in a blog or comment below. The beauty of social media is the ability to add content and dialogue. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

I stumbled across Jeeta’s handmade goodies on Etsy. I thought her handmade keychains ($9-11), bookmarks ($9) and books ($42) – which can be personalized with names or initials – would make a great bridesmaid or groomsman gift. Jeeta also makes other custom items.
