Evolution of Beauty

I’m not sure if this Dove campaign is running in the US, but it has become somewhat of a social movement in Canada. Created by ad agency Ogilvy & Mather Toronto, it shows how our perception of beauty is unrealistic and unattainable.

From the success of Dove’s “Campaign for Real Beauty”, Ogilvy has recently created “Onslaught” which disects the assailment of media images that tell our children what beauty is. The message is clear – talk to your children about beauty before the media does. I have to say that I find it slightly ironic that an ad agency is leading the charge on advising society to be wary of media messages…but hey, if the message is good…
