Miette patisserie et confiserie

Modern . Understated . Traditional . Miette

This wonder can be found in San Francisco’s famous Ferry Building. And, just this year they opened every child’s dream…a candy shop in Hayes Valley. I just love the undressed chocolate cakes and their simple and hand-made finishes and details. These cakes are totally inspiring. A definite favorite!

It’s funny how we’re always looking for something new, until we finally make it back to the simple and classic. It makes you wonder: would we ever appreciate the simple if it weren’t for the extraordinary or excess. (maybe too much thinking over a cake, but they’re lovely)

You’re so right, Jessie. With every trend, there’s usually an anti-trend (especially when people tire of how huge the original trend gets). I much prefer the understanted elegance of these cakes to the overdressed & styled cakes we see everywhere. They remind me of a cross between what my Mom used to bake and what I saw in the beautiful patisseries in Europe :-D
